Marine Rescue NSW volunteers

Interested in becoming a volunteer? Join up today

Male, female, senior and young; if you come on board as a member of Marine Rescue NSW, you’ll join a group of professionally trained volunteers who are committed to saving lives on the water.

Our members come from all walks of life and there’s a job for almost everyone whether it’s crewing on one of our offshore search and rescue vessels,   maintaining radio communications at our radio base or fundraising activities.

Members must be aged 16 years or older. If you already have some boating skills, that’s great. If not, we can teach you everything you’ll need to know from the water up, including getting your NSW Maritime Boating Licence, First Aid training and your Marine Radio Operators Certificate of Proficiency.

We’re always on the lookout for people from a range of backgrounds who have valuable technical, practical, administrative or life skills to contribute to the smooth and efficient operation of our unit

Marine Rescue NSW occupies a position of great trust in the NSW community. For this reason, all applicants are required to undergo a National Criminal History Record Check (CrimTrac) before they are offered membership.

The existence of a criminal record will not necessarily disqualify you from membership. The forms will be provided to you at your local Unit when you apply to become a Provisional Member. We look forward to welcoming you aboard!
